The History of Circling is brief. It began when the Universe was formed. It is the Universal shape that connects us all through science and history.
It is everywhere, in every culture, every civilization and found within every modern miracle. It is the Universal shape. It is beginning, middle and end.
It is the return. The shape of a cell, the Earth, the genesis of all plants, human beings, animals, stars, our moon and Sun, all begin with a simple circle cell.
Cavemen and women sat in Circles around the campfire, the wheel was the first perfect invention, and we've been recreating Circles ever since.
"...You have noticed that everything an Indian does is in a circle, and that is because the Power of the World always works in circles,
and everything tries to be round..... The Sky is round, and I have heard that the earth is round like a ball, and so are all the stars. The wind, in its greatest power, whirls.
Birds make their nest in circles, for theirs is the same religion as ours....ŻEven the seasons form a great circle in their changing, and always come back again to where they were.
The life of a man is a circle from childhood to childhood, and so it is in everything where power moves." -Black Elk (Oglala) 1863-1950
The Knights of the Round Table held council in a Circle, Native Americans sit in sacred Circle around a fire to discuss important matters and to invoke the
spirits for guidance. In Goddess tradition Circling is used to commune with nature, contact spirit guides, Mother Earth and inner power. In Washington, many
of the buildings are designed in a Circle.
Forms of Circling were used in old Babylonia, during the Middle Ages and Renaissance times. In Pre-Christian Europe most religious festivals took place in Circles,
outside at night, celebrating the Earth's fertility and worshiping the Sun, Moon and Deities. Stone Circles such as Stonehenge and other prehistoric monuments,
across Europe are the remains of such times.
Crop Circles appear mysteriously and magically and we are mesmerized by their perfection.
We learn to sit in a circle the first day of kindergarten, we spontaneously want the "round table" at the noisy restaurant so that we can hear and see one another
and enjoy our time together. Wedding rings are a circle of love representing the perfection of a holy union.
The Circle is in our DNA. When we Circle we feel more aligned, more comfortable, it is in our nature to be facing one another and sitting side by side peacefully.
